Wolfburn - Aurora - 46% - Highland Single Malt

Jim Murray´s Whisky Bible 2019 – 91,5 pts: *Nose 22.5, taste 24, finish 22, balance and overall complexity 23. Early days at a distillery and still finding their feet with the still. The cut on this was wider than on the previous bottling I sampled, but there is no faulting the use f the 100% sulphur-free sherry butt. There is the odd aspect of genius attached to this dram, for sure. For the record: just vatted this with some OTT oak-hit sherry-cask 1954 malt in need of the kiss of life, or like a vampire in need of a virgin´s blood: I suspect the first time a Wolfburn has been mixed with a 60-year-old Speysider. Result? One of the most complex and complete experiences of the last couple of months- a would-be award winner, were it commercially available! Stunning!*
