Château Guillot Clauzel

Die Appellation Pomerol befindet sich auf dem sogenannten rechten Ufer des Bordelais. Die Gironde und weiter im Landesinneren die Dordogne trennen das rechte und das linke Ufer voneinander. Die AOC Pomerol liegt in direkter Nachbarschaft zur Stadt Libourne in östlicher Richtung und der AOC St. Emilion in westlicher Richtung. Lange war das Pomerol über seine Grenzen hinaus eher als Ableger der weitaus prestigeträchtigeren Appellation St. Emilion bekannt. Aber es veränderte sich etwas und engagierte Weinmacher arbeiteten am positiven Ruf ihres Anbaugebietes.

Einige Familien sind schon lange in der Gegend aktiv. So auch die Familie Clauzel, die im Jahre 1920 das Château Beauregard in Pomerol kaufte. Wie alle Weingüter in der AOC ist auch dieses unklassifiziert, seine Weine gehören aber trotzdem zu den großen Gewächsen des Pomerol. Als die Familie sich 1991 für den Verkauf von Beauregard entschloss, behielten sie eine kleine Parzelle mit dem besten Terroir in ihrem Besitz....
